Mycelium is a natural composite consisting of natural fibers such as straw, that are held together by the roots of grown fungi. The growth process takes about two weeks and results in a light material. The material can be grown from local residual flows.
Small local companies usually use the mycelium for small-scale and simple products. They often lack the resources to invest in expensive machines or complex molds.

That is why Mycelium Tubes make it possible to grow large and customized products in an accessible way.

By replacing complex molds with plastic bags in tube shapes, the production process becomes cheaper, simpler and creates more opportunities.
The plastic bags serve as a kind of cocoon to hold and protect the material mix.

The advantage of working with this technique is that you can determine the shape yourself by placing the filled pipes in the desired position.

This means that you are not bound to one particular shape and the possibilities are almost endless. To embody the possibilities of the production method, I have developed a furniture collection that reflects the potential of this technique.
